RUSH LIMBAUGH: “So, as President, [Obama] will cut taxes for every working family making less than 200, so we’ve gone from 120, to 250, to 200, to 150, now we’re back to 200… You can’t keep a lie straight this is the problem… None of these numbers are right.” (Rush Limbaugh Show, 10/31/08)

Who Does Number Two Work For?

McCain Blogger Michael Goldfarb is taking some heat for telling CNN's Rick Sanchez that "we both know who number two is" when asked to name an anti-Semite that Obama hangs around other than Kahlid Rashidi. Maybe Goldfarb could have been a little more straightforward, but Sanchez is definitely being willfully ignorant here, because we ALL KNOW WHO NUMBER TWO IS…

Obama's Audacious Comments. Getting Nervous in IA?

"On the day of the Iowa Caucus, my faith in the American people was vindicated. And what you started here in Iowa has swept the nation. We're seeing the same turnout. We're seeing the same people going and getting in line – volunteers, people participating. A whole new way of doing democracy started right here in Iowa and it's all across the country now." (Barack Obama, Remarks, Des Moines, IA, 10/31/08) ... This is kind of like Michelle’s comment about having pride in her country because people voted for Barack. It's kind of audacious. So let me get this straight: His faith was vindicated because people delivered him a caucus victory? What if he’d come second? ... Then he’d have had no faith in the American people?

Team Sarah has launched a new TV ad about Barack Obama. Check it out...
Here's the press release:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: New Team Sarah Ad Highlights Obama’s Associations with Ayers, Khalidi, Wright: Response to Barack Obama’s Demeaning “Wink” Ad Washington – Today, Team Sarah, a grassroots coalition of diverse women dedicated to advancing Governor Sarah Palin's Vice Presidential candidacy announced the release of a new web ad in response to Barack Obama’s recent “Wink” ad that attack’s Governor Sarah Palin. "This week Barack Obama unleashed a blatantly sexist attack on Sarah Palin in a TV commercial informally known as the ‘wink’ ad,” said Jane Abraham, Team Sarah Co-Founder . “Obama’s ad is demeaning to women. It is also hypocritical. Indeed it is Senator Obama who has brushed aside with a dismissive wink his close connections to violent radical Bill Ayers, terrorist sympathizer Rashid Khalidi and Reverend Jeremiah Wright. We are releasing this ad to remind voters about these relationships, and what they say about Mr. Obama and his agenda." The Team Sarah web ad can be viewed on www.teamsarah.org. The script of the add follows: “Wow. The man Joe Biden said was so articulate and clean ends his campaign with a dirty shot at Sarah Palin’s wink. But who has Barack Obama winked at? Reverend Wright and his hurtful outbursts. Unrepentant Pentagon bomber Bill Ayers. His friend Rashid Khalidi and his attacks on Israel. But you can trust Barack Obama - - wink, wink - - know what I mean?” Team Sarah is a grassroots coalition of diverse women dedicated to advancing Governor Sarah Palin's Vice Presidential candidacy. ###

New McCain Ad: 'Cuts'

Script For "Cuts" (Radio :60) SENATOR JOHN WARNER: Hello, this is Senator John Warner. Hampton Roads is home to the world's largest military facilities. Barack Obama's liberal colleagues in Congress announced they will cut defense spending by 25%. Fellow Virginians: cuts in the defense budget will weaken Virginia's economy and weaken national defense. John McCain is a true fighter. He'll champion Tidewater's leading role in our nation's defense. ANNCR: Newspapers document Congressional liberals have announced a plan to cut defense spending by 25% after the election. It would mean huge job losses right here in Tidewater. Independent studies prove it will mean fewer jobs. Fewer benefits for more communities in the middle of a recession. That's the Congressional liberals' plan if you give them your vote. Paid for by McCain-Palin 2008 and the Republican National Committee. JOHN MCCAIN: I'm John McCain and I approve this message.

McCain Surging...

On the McCain conference call....
... McCain Political Director Mike DuHaime reports that the McCain campaign is blowing away the Bush/Cheney '04 grassroots efforts. According to DuHaime, McCain volunteers have made 24 million targeted contacts. He predicts they will make another 17 million contacts (phones and door-to-door) between now and Election Day...
Update: Rick Davis notes that the half-hour Obama ad was, "mostly watched by Obama supporters." He referred to it as an interesting use of 5 million, and noted that Obama could have run a week's worth of 30 second ads in almost all the targeted states, for the same amount. "We don't see any evidence that was a game-changer or did anything other than communicate with their base," Davis added. In short, Davis seems to believe that Obama has wasted some of his overwhelming resources.
Update: Rick Davis just noted that McCain would spend today with Arnold Schwarzenegger in Ohio. On Sunday, he will do what they are calling a "nostalgia tour" of New Hampshire. On Monday, Davis reports, McCain will hit seven cities in seven states. And then on Tuesday, McCain will be in Phoenix.
Rather than defending Red States, it seems McCain is now on the offensive, fighting for states like NH, IA (Bush won it, but it was written-off as an Obama state), and PA....
*** Davis also predicted McCain will out-spend Obama in this last week on TV!

October is on track to be the first month in which no U.S. troops have died in combat in Baghdad. But that's not all. According to USA Today, there's even more to celebrate, including: As of Thursday, the Pentagon had reported 13 U.S. troops killed in combat and non-combat incidents this month in Iraq. If the number holds, it would tie July for the lowest monthly U.S. death toll of the 5?-year-old war. The news comes in a week in which the troops have already made headlines. Their latest milestone? Two days ago, the U.S. military had handed over control of yet another province to the people of Iraq. This is the 13th of the country's 18 provinces to be placed back in Iraqi control, a sign of the tremendous dedication of the men and women of our military.
(For a related post, written when the al Anbar province was handed over, click here.)

Rick Davis: McCain 'Dead-Even in Iowa'

Everyone has written-off Iowa. In fact, we've been very curious as to why McCain -- who opposes Ethanol subsidies -- has "wasted" his time there this year.
I'm on a conference call right now with McCain campaign manager Rick Davis. According to Davis, McCain's internal polling shows them "dead-even in Iowa." Davis says this is the reason Obama is headed there to campaign ...
